ECTKD 2019-20 Highlights

It has been a busy start to the season so far for East Cork Taekwon-Do from grass roots level to the highest international stage in ITF Taekwon-Do. Here are some highlights!

ITF European Championships 2019

Two of our Black Belt students Veronika and Juliana Kovaliova were selected for the Irish National Team to represent Ireland at the ITF European Championships in Sarajevo, Bosnia. This competition had 1253 competitors from 30 countries across Europe at the highest level of ITF Taekwon-Do.

Redking Rumble 2019

Our team took part in the Redking Rumble in Cork and secured 29 Gold, 16 Silver, and 20 Bronze. A special mention to Henrique Hayashi, Ignacy Pasiecznik, and Conor McCarthy on winning double gold!

ITA Irish National Championships 2019

East Cork Taekwon-Do brought a team to the ITA Irish National Championships in UL, Limerick. After fantastic performances by all of our team, East Cork Taekwon-Do received the 3rd Best Overall Club at this year’s championships. This a huge achievement as our club is currently the 3rd best club in Ireland. As well as this, our club has 14 new national championships in various disciplines including sparring, patterns, and special technique.

Open Dutch Championships 2020

Congratulations to club Black Belt & Irish National Team fighter Julia Pasiecznik on securing a well-deserved Bronze medal in Sparring in the highly competitive Open Dutch in Eindhoven, Holland

Scion Open 2020

East Cork Taekwon-Do also competed at the Scion Open in Cork. Our team secured a massive haul of 40 medals in what was a wonderful team performance. A big well done to our junior coaches for the fantastic work they put in on the day.

ITA Munster Championships 2020

Our team took part in the ITA Munster Championships in Waterford over two days. Our competitors took over 30 medals with fantastic performances on the day. A special congratulations to Lauren O Flynn and Juliana Kovaliova who both won double gold. A big congratulations to Veronika Kovaliova who won the Best Junior Female Award for her fantastic performance.

Competitor of the Year 2019

Congratulations to Brajan Wojciechowski who was awarded East Cork Taekwon-Do’s competitor of the year 2019. Brajan achieved a massive success in 2019. Brajan is the Munster, Leinster & Irish National Champion 2019 winning Gold in Sparring at each of event. Brajan also secured 7 gold medals in a row in 2019. Aside from his huge medal haul, Brajan has an amazing attitude and work ethic. He has such an admirable attitude and is a fantastic example for all at East Cork Taekwon-Do at only 10 years of age!

5th Degree

Congratulations to East Cork Taekwon-Do’s Head Instructor Mr Richard Forde who was promoted to 5th Degree Black Belt in December 2019. This was a nice way to mark his 20th year in Taekwon-Do!

Carrigtwohill Sports Star

East Cork Taekwon-Do’s Kyle Kidney was named Carrigtwohill Sports Star of the Month for November. Kyle won the award after claiming the title of Irish National Champion 2019. Kyle showed great skill and composure to take gold in the highly contested Blue and Red Belt 11-13 years division. Kyle also experience continuous success throughout 2019.

ITF European Championships 2020

Three of our members have been selected to represent Ireland at the 2020 European Championships. Julia Pasiecznik, Juliana Kovaliova, and Veronika Kovaliova will represent Ireland for this campaign. These girls show great dedication to their training and are fantastic examples for the younger members of our club showing what can be achieved through hard work.
